In 1955, Carl Erik Josef Nyberg (C.E.J.N.) designed and patented a revolutionary quick connect coupling that addressed many shortcomings of previous designs. It greatly simplified handling while providing reliable and efficient connections.
After World War II, compressed air became increasingly used as an energy source for pneumatic tools and equipment. Leaks and inefficiencies in couplings were common problems, one of which Carl, our founder, encountered as a tool grinder at the Royal Armour Regiment. Struggling to meet hourly piece-work targets, Carl, who had always been inventive, set out to create a better coupling. This invention became the foundation for much of CEJN’s current product range and the start of our global expansion.
Our design features small external and large internal dimensions. Since Carl patented this coupling in 1955, we have expanded our product lines from compressed air to include breathing air, hydraulic oil, and other fluids. We focus on developing innovative engineering solutions with a strong emphasis on safety, continuously improving standard products, and creating new ones.

Post-World War II, compressed air was increasingly used as an energy source for pneumatic tools and equipment. Coupling leaks and inefficiency were common problems; even our founder Carl faced this challenge as a tool grinder at the Royal Armour Regiment. Determined to keep up with piece-work deadlines, Carl, ever the inventor, created a new, improved coupling. This invention formed the basis of much of CEJN’s modern product line and marked the beginning of our global growth.
Our design is based on smaller external and larger internal dimensions. Since Carl invented this coupling, patented in 1955, we have broadened our product offerings from compressed air to include breathing air, hydraulic oil, and other fluids.
