(Assistant) Mgr, Process Dev. & Production Support

- Lead lab technicians (1-2) to support new product development, process improvement & development, and production;

- Lead efforts to provide production support, including trouble shooting, process improvement, and raw material qualification etc.;

- Lead efforts to provide process improvement and development to achieve higher productivity, safer production processes, increased usage of manufacturing assets or higher quality products;

- Support new product scale-up and introduction to plants;

- Support R&D scientists in producing lab and pilot scale samples for customers with a key focus on product quality and time to market.

Main Tasks

1. Polymerisation lab operations:

- Comply with BASF Environmental, Health and Safety policies;

- Design experiments for assigned tasks, and lead lab technicians to meet requirements and timelines;

- Manage and supervise polymer related projects;

- Communicate and document lab results, and provide feasible solutions.

2. Process Development:

- In collaboration with Global Technology, Production and R&D Scientists, develops new or improves existing production processes for higher productivity, safer production, increased utilisation of fixed assets or better performing products;

- Support R&D Scientists in evaluating new recipes under development with regard to process conditions and Plant capabilities;

- Support new product scale-up and introduction to Production Plants by providing appropriate lab-scale testing and offering engineering/process advice;

- Support R & D scientists in producing pilot-scale samples for customer trials with a key focus on new product manufacturability in Production and time-to-market;

- Apply & adapt polymerisation models to optimise process conditions or shorten cycle times.

3. Production Support:

- Support root-cause analysis and production trouble-shooting;

- Help qualify alternative raw materials, in order to either lower RM costs or increase supply security in close collaboration with Business, Procurement & Production;

- Provide general engineering & manufacturing support to production.

任职要求:

- Master's/ or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering or Polymer Science & Technology; PhD preferred;

- >5 years of working experience in Polymer Science & Technology;

- Excellent communication skills and fluent English to support Asia Pacific (reading, writing, and WebEx meetings);

- Be a proactive team player, and show initiative, creativity, and willingness to help;

- Be comfortable to work in an international /regional and interdisciplinary organisation, and keen to expand your area of expertise;

- Overseas research experience and willingness to work in Jiangsu or Guangdong plants in future bring advantages to the candidates;

- Familiarity with emulsion polymer technology or production process is beneficial. Skills in computer software are a plus, such as Word, Excel, Design of Experiments and Statistics, Programming etc.
