Job Overview

Tornado is dedicated to innovation, competence and efficiency, leading ultimately to high levels of product quality and customer satisfaction. As an integral part of the Engineering and Design Department, the Designer-Drafter will play a vital role in the ongoing product line expansion, including a wide variety of projects and assignments. Reporting to the Engineering Lead, the Designer-Drafter will be required to produce design and detail developments, including both technical and shop drawings. Additionally, they will be responsible for the proper maintenance of all relevant engineering records.

Key Responsibilities

Design, Engineering, Drafting

The Designer-Drafter’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

82 Assist with the design and development of hydrovac equipment and systems as related to their manufacturing.

82 Utilize relevant CAD software to create 3D models and technical drawings.

82 Assist with design validations employing technical calculations and documentation.

82 Update engineering documentation and specifications as per company procedures and policy.

82 Develop and provide engineering documents to departments as required.

Additional Responsibilities

82 Assist with research and development products.

82 Participate in the design-review process.

82 Other duties and tasks as required.

Qualifications

Experience

The ideal candidate will provide demonstratable experience in the following areas:

82 3 years practical experience in Design and Drafting.

82 Employing 3D-modeling software (Autodesk Inventor preferred).

82 Be familiar with machining, welding, sheet metal and hydraulic.

82 Be familiar with GD&T.

82 Basic knowledge on manufacture process and material.

82 Foundational computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), as well as file management and data entry.

Education

82 Undergraduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technologist Diploma.

Working Conditions
