Outline
King’s is an inclusive international school open to students of all backgrounds, though the majority are Chinese. With the opening of our Primary and Secondary campus (our Prep and Senior Schools) in August 2022, we are now looking to recruit for both teaching and leadership positions.
In Grades 1-4 (UK Years 2-5) science, as with most other subjects, will be taught by Homeroom teachers with some specialist help, but from Grade 5 onwards students will begin to have specialist classes. Throughout, we follow the Cambridge Pathway leading to IGCSE and A Level in the Senior School. However, as an international school, we have freedom to develop our own supporting interests and, in particular, we aim to marry these to those of modern China. For example, our new campus will have a room dedicated to space studies located close to our robotics workshop. In total the department will have 10 different laboratories (some with specialisms) and will be expected to work particularly closely with rest of the school.
School Life and Routines
All teachers have shared responsibility for smooth daily running of the School as an entity - and for maintaining the general ethos, routine and pedagogy in line with the King’s School’s Aims and Ethos – as directed within reason by the Executive Principal.
In so doing, they should:
- ensure that the School’s rules and policies are maintained
- attend School meetings and public events
- support co-curricular events and activities
Safeguarding, Student Welfare and Pastoral Care
All teachers:
- must ensure that they are fully aware of policies and practices with regard to safeguarding and student welfare
- must ensure that they adhere to the published systems
- must be role models to all students at all times
- must be prepared to do pastoral, tutorial work as designated by school leadership
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching a standard teacher’s timetable across Grades 8-12.
2. To help with syllabus planning for those Grades.
3. To help equip the labs with the right equipment.
4. To liaise with the Learning Support department.
5. To recommend resources as necessary.
6. To be a pastoral tutor for a number of students.
7. To be fully involved in the School’s co-curricular provision.
8. To be available for the supervision of boarders for one evening every one or two weeks (not overnight).
9. To support the School’s Admissions department where reasonably required.
10. To perform other reasonable and appropriate duties as delineated by the Executive Principal.
