Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Product Manager to join our growing team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in the planning, concept, execution, and delivery of our next generation of smartwatch hardware. You will serve as the central point of contact, orchestrating complex projects from ideation through to post-launch optimization, ensuring our products meet market demands and exceed user expectations. While this is a remote position, regular travel to our factory and supplier sites in Shenzhen, China, will be a key expectation to ensure hands-on oversight and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
As a Product Manager at Vitalist Inc., you will:
●Project Leadership & Planning: Develop and manage comprehensive project schedules and work plans, defining clear objectives, scope, and deliverables for each phase of the product lifecycle.
●Resource Management: Accurately predict and allocate the necessary resources (human, financial, and material) to achieve project objectives efficiently and effectively, ensuring optimal utilization across multiple initiatives.
●Supplier & Manufacturer Collaboration: Work closely with our global network of suppliers and manufacturers to establish clear deliverables, priorities, and milestones, fostering strong partnerships to ensure timely and high-quality production. This will involve regular on-site visits to our factory and supplier locations in Shenzhen, China, to facilitate direct oversight and collaboration.
●Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as a central coordinator, collaborating seamlessly with internal teams including product design, engineering, supply chain, logistics, marketing, and sales to align efforts and hit critical project milestones.
●Portfolio Management: Manage multiple concurrent projects across different product categories, optimizing resource allocation and ensuring strategic alignment with the company's overall product roadmap.
●Stakeholder Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, manufacturers, and various business units, ensuring transparent communication and shared understanding.
●Delivery Ownership: Take full ownership of project outcomes, driving the day-to-day delivery of activities, proactively identifying and mitigating risks, and resolving issues to keep projects on track.
●Reporting & Communication: Provide regular, transparent updates on project status using industry-standard project management software, ensuring all stakeholders are informed of progress, challenges, and upcoming tasks.
●Go-to-Market Strategy Support: Assist with the strategic planning and execution of product launches across e-commerce and retail channels, ensuring the availability of appropriate marketing assets and a seamless market entry.
●Performance Measurement & Improvement: Continuously measure project performance against established KPIs, conducting post-mortems and root cause analyses to identify areas for process improvement and optimize future project execution.
●Best Practice Implementation: Champion and utilize industry best practices, proven techniques, and established standards throughout the entire project execution lifecycle to ensure consistent quality and efficiency.
●Post-Launch Management: Oversee post-launch product activities, including monitoring customer satisfaction, analyzing returns and warranty data, managing Engineering Change Notifications (ECNs), driving continuous product improvements, and communicating critical change notifications.
●Market & Technology Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of market trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscapes within the wearables industry to inform and help shape the company's long-term product roadmap and hardware development strategy.
Qualifications
●Language Proficiency: Fluent in both English and Chinese (Mandarin), with mandatory B1 level proficiency in both verbal and written communication, enabling effective collaboration with international teams and local partners.
●Experience: At least 3 years of proven experience as a Product Manager or Project Manager, specifically managing hardware development projects from concept to mass production.
●Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred, demonstrating a strong understanding of project management methodologies.
●Industry Background: Direct experience in the consumer electronics or hardware industry is essential, ideally with exposure to product development cycles for complex electronic devices.
●Technical Acumen: Strong technical background with the ability to analyze various capabilities and technical requirements, and engage effectively with engineering and R&D teams.
●Analytical & Organizational Skills: Possess a very strong analytical mindset with exceptional organizational skills, capable of managing intricate details and large datasets while maintaining a clear strategic overview.
●Problem-Solving: Proven ability to solve complex problems creatively and effectively, adapting to unforeseen challenges and finding innovative solutions.
●Communication: Excellent ability to translate complex technical problems and abstract ideas into clear, concise, and easily understood descriptions for diverse audiences.
Desired Skills and Experience
●Manufacturing Expertise: Demonstrable in-depth knowledge of the hardware manufacturing process, including supply chain dynamics, quality control, and common production nuances.
●Industry Passion: A strong knowledge of and genuine passion for smartwatches and other wearable technologies, staying abreast of the latest trends and innovations.
●Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience using various project management software platforms (e.g., Jira, Asana, Monday, Microsoft Project) to track progress, manage tasks, and communicate effectively.
