Job Purpose:
The post holder will be working as part of the International Recruitment and Partnerships team and part of the larger External Relations Directorate at the University of Glasgow. The role will be based in Beijing, and will report to the Country Manager (China) (CMC) based in Beijing and work with the CMC, Head/Deputy Head of International Recruitment (HoIR), International Recruitment Manager East Asia (IRM), Senior International Officer East Asia (SIOEA), and other China based International Officers (IO), in meeting institutional and College targets in relation to the University’s international recruitment strategy and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Although the post will be primarily focussed on activity in China, the post holder may also be required to assist with recruitment activities across East Asia, and involving different international markets.
Main Duties:
* To act as *** point of contact for student enquiries, applicants, schools, agents and other stakeholders of the University in China and East Asia. Respond swiftly and effectively to all enquiries, and maintain excellent customer relations at all times. To take ownership of the management of enquiries that have been referred due to their complex nature.
* To represent and promote the University to stakeholders at both online and offline education exhibitions, fairs, conferences, webinars and other recruitment events in China and East Asia. Travel across China will be required, and across East Asia when necessary.
* To maintain excellent relationships with international high schools within the region, particularly those around surrounding areas for University UG programme promotion. To attend school fairs and webinars and provide standard presentations to a range of audiences, including potential students, parents, and school counsellors.
* To assist in maintaining the University’s agency network in China through regular visits to agency offices to give presentations, train agency staff, interview prospective students and attend recruitment fairs; to assist the CMC on all aspects of agent management including feeding into evaluation of agent performance.
Working with the CMC, IRM, SIOEA and other China-based International Officers, to develop materials for agent training and reference.
* To support China recruitment team and University of Glasgow staff with making logistical arrangements for events, and accompanying UofG staff on visits; giving presentations to stakeholders, agents, and prospective students; and acting as a point of contact for general enquiries to ensure a successful delivery of University activities.
* To plan and implement online and offline conversion activities in a timely manner across the region including social media, digital media campaigns, and partner and agent networks.
* To assist the CMC and liaise with the Communications Office to monitor University official accounts on Chinese social media channels, contribute to recruitment related content and assist in managing the outcome of Chinese social media channels. Aid deliver of Social media campaigns and answer relevant enquiries, and contribute content for promoting the University in China.
* To contribute to market research for China and East Asia, including semester reports, contributing to Market Assessments and RaIR Updates, providing regular statistical and trend analysis, and horizon scanning for this region, identifying highly sought-after programmes.
* To maintain, update and create where necessary, overseas recruitment databases. To produce and analyse data for presentation and reporting purposes. To support informed decision making and the International Recruitment Strategies for China and East Asia.
* To monitor China produced University gifts, maintain stock and prepare and contribute to producing new University gifts for events, including the organising distribution across China as part of University promotion.
* To assist in the scholarship selection process by identifying Highly Qualified Applicants in line with published criteria. To liaise with the Glasgow-based Scholarship Officer to ensure awards are made and accepted on a regular basis, aiding conversion.
* To deputise for the CMC, IRM, SIOEA when required and carry out other duties as deemed appropriate by the HoIR and/or the Director of International Recruitment and Partnerships.
Dimensions
You will be working as part of the International Recruitment & Partnerships team which is part of the External relations directorate. This team, of over 180 staff is responsible for attracting the very best students from across the UK and the world to our undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The team generates over 05150 million in international tuition fee income for the University of Glasgow through their recruitment activities. This post sits within the International Recruitment & Partnerships Team and this team is responsible for meeting the challenging international student targets of 11,000 students by
2026. It is also responsible for playing a major part in the University’s Internationalisation strategy and helping develop a network of partners across the world and working closely with external facilitators such as agents and government ministries.
You will be expected to liaise with all levels of academic and administrative personnel, including senior University management, on a regular basis and produce timely reports.

The gross monthly package for this position is from RMB 15K with annual pro rata leave entitlement of 22-days for Chinese nationals.
