Technical Director

1. Team Leadership:

- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of application engineers specializing in Thermbond (specialist refractory product), RapidStar (specialist heater application), and vacuum forming technologies.

- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

- Ensure the team is aligned with TEM’s strategic goals and objectives.

2. Technical and Pricing Proposal Management:

- Oversee the preparation and submission of technical and pricing proposals for customer projects.

- Ensure proposals are accurate, competitive, and aligned with margin targets.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., sales, R&D, production) to deliver comprehensive solutions.

3. Technical Project Pipeline Management:

- Monitor and report weekly on the pipeline of ongoing projects, including status, timelines, and resource allocation.

- Identify and mitigate risks to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

4. Financial & Project Accountability:

- Maintain adequate financial records for BOM’s & quotations

- Ensure project margins meet or exceed expectations

- Strive to exceed customers’ expectations in meeting timescales & quality of

workmanship

5. Resource Optimization:

- Maximize team calendars and effectiveness by ensuring optimal resource allocation and

workload balance.

- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.

6. Liaising with Technical Bodies and Global Expertise:

- Act as the primary point of contact for technical collaboration with industry bodies, research institutions, and global experts.

- Stay updated on global trends, innovations, and best practices in Refractory Materials, and vacuum forming technologies.

- Leverage global expertise to enhance TEM’s technical capabilities and competitive edge.

7. Reporting and Communication:

- Provide regular updates to the General Manager on team performance, project status, and financial metrics.

- Act as the primary technical liaison between the team, senior management, and external stakeholders.

- Communicate effectively in English with international partners, clients, and technical bodies.

8. Travel Requirements:

- Extensive travel within China and occasional travel to Southeast Asia (SEA) to support customer projects, oversee operations, and strengthen client relationships.

- International travel may be required to collaborate with global technical bodies and experts.

Qualifications:

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, Master’s) is a plus.

Experience:

- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a leading technical role, in insulation and ceramics industry. Proven experience with Thermbond (refractory products), RapidStar (heater applications), vacuum forming, or similar technologies is highly desirable.

- Strong background in project management, financial analysis, and proposal development.

- Experience liaising with technical bodies and leveraging global expertise is a significant advantage.
