(Sr.) R&D Engineer Technology Development

1. Development Planning

Specifies single tasks resulting from research assignments. Plans therefore required costs under consideration of required external work; internal laboratory work, tests, pilot production etc. Plans development contracts / projects (objectives, resources, time, laboratories, machines, materials, investments etc.), performs

the time and cost planning in coordination with the supervisor and the clients. Performs projects and subprojects. Ensures the success of the project through timely measures to adjust the project process. Derives

product specifications and evaluates own product development opportunities. Sets up lab competence in

agreement with the head of RD China on relevant analytical methods.

2. Research

Develops solutions and new product opportunities concentrating on post processing, esp. powder processing, photolithography, laser processing, and surface modification of glass and glass ceramic materials

with involvement and application of sound knowledge in the following subject areas: like consumer electronics, semiconductors and bio-medical. Develops the foundation for new technologies / innovations in

relevant field. Initiates, coordinates and conducts scientific and technical developmental work. Regularly informs clients / customers about the current status of development work (tasks) and determines next steps.

Determines the feasibility of results and summarizes the evaluation results as the base for future developments. Takes care for securing relevant developments by drafting and filing IP and evaluating competitor IP

in those fields.

3. Technology Market

Monitors and understands deeply the technology trends and advancement in the technology field of advanced processing of glasses and glass ceramics. Identifies and evaluates development opportunities in

this area and key players. Actively participates conferences & fairs, and figures out industry roadmap for

the emerging technologies. Observes products, development efforts and patents of competitors.

4. Contacts

Initiates and maintains contact with internal and external customers, academic research institutes, and universities in order to learn about the latest research findings relevant advanced processing developments of

glasses and glass ceramics. Collaborates closely with Central R&D esp. RDT.Establishes regional academic network with the experts by organizing regular visits and workshops, and propose R&D projects for cooperation. Presents work results internally and externally.

5. Knowledge Maintenance and Documentation

Gathers information for the further development of own tasks through relevant technical and patent literature, conferences and customer contacts. Creates documentation and presentations and ensures for the

practical transfer of research results to the development phase. Ensures research results through the creation of patent designs and contributes to the development of patent strategies.

6. Company policy

Follows strictly company policy including EHS, equipment maintenance, lab 5s and compliance and takes

personal responsibility based on the department guideline

Experience and Competencies 所需的经验和能力

1. PhD. (preferred) or Master (with 2 to 5 years working experience) in Material Science, Optics, Solid

State Physics or Mechanics, overseas experience preferred

2. Working experience on the processing or structuring of glass or other inorganic materials by utilizing

photolithography or laser methods. Experience or knowledge on metallization is preferred. Deep understanding on the optics-materials interactions, and knowledge on glass materials, processing and applications.

在采用光刻或者激光对玻璃或者其它无机非金属材料方面进行加工有以往的工作经验。优先考虑同时具有

材料金属化方面的经验或者知识。深入理解光和材料的相互作用，并且具备玻璃的基础知识，了解其加工

和应用。
