Junior Product Development Engineer

1. Bachelor’s degree in furniture related Engineering, mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

2. Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or recent graduate with strong academic background. Experience within the furniture or upholstery industry is a plus.

3. Strong interest in wooden furniture and case goods design and manufacturing.

4. Good problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

5. Good organizational and project management skills, particularly in managing schedules and deadlines.

6. Eagerness to learn and grow within the company.

7. Good command in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) or strong aptitude to learn.

8. Willingness and ability to travel internationally.

Responsibilities

1. Design Collaboration & Sample Development Support:

o Assist in collaborating with designers to understand design concepts and translate them into engineering solutions.

o Support the creation of accurate and functional prototypes in the sample room based on design specifications.

o Provide support during the new product introduction process, assisting in ensuring manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and structural integrity.

o Assist in generating CAD drawings and technical specifications for wooden furniture and case goods products.

2. Engineering Expertise & Material Knowledge Development:

o Assist in providing technical guidance on materials in responsible categories, construction techniques, and manufacturing processes.

o Develop an understanding of the materials, components, and parts used in responsible products construction.

o Assist in gathering information on material costs and identifying opportunities for cost optimization.

o Support the senior engineers and product managers and develop an understanding on optimizing material utilization and explore alternative materials to enhance product performance, reduce costs, and improve environmental impact.

3. Product Development & Engineering Support:

o Assist in leading and monitoring sampling schedules with suppliers.

o Support the engineering design and development of new wooden furniture and case goods products.

o Assist in conducting feasibility studies, prototyping, and testing to validate designs.

o Assist in developing and maintaining technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for wooden furniture and case goods products.

o Support the optimization of existing product designs for cost reduction, improved efficiency, and enhanced performance.
