Engineering Manager

1. Strategic Decision-Making: Provide sound decision-making for engineering research and product development, considering business constraints and needs.

2. Project Management: Manage engineering team schedules and resources to support key product development efforts and research.

3. Development Lifecycle: Oversee the entire development lifecycle, from design inception to production implementation.

4. Vendor Management: Manage outsourced development relationships and contractors.

5. Testing: Develop and execute engineering test plans.

6. Process Improvement: Create and implement engineering processes, practices, and operations to ensure reproducible development and high quality.

7. Product Development: Generate technical requirements documents for new product development, providing innovative solutions.

8. Project Leadership: Lead multiple hardware projects involving research and development of optical devices.

9. Quality Problem-Solving: Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand and resolve quality issues related to new product development.

Requirements/Qualifications:

1. Mechanical Engineering: Design experience, expertise in plastic injection molding, Design for Manufacture (DFM) methodologies, sustainability initiatives for product packaging and material selection.

2. Optical Engineering: Knowledge of sensor technologies, evaluation of sensor performance, experience with spectrophotometers, colorimeters, and opto-mechanical design.

3. Electrical Engineering: Embedded microprocessor, firmware, PCB design, knowledge of C and C++, development of production test software.

4. Project Management: Strong leadership, time management, critical thinking, and project management skills.

5. Stage Gate Development: Experience with new product design from concept to production, including familiarity with hardware and software processes.
