As a Customer Support Chemist, you will perform independently or as part of a team to create profitable and novel technical solutions to support Architecture Coating business growth in China, especially for waterborne decorative coatings. You will focus on existing portfolio development through a combination of technical leadership and hands-on laboratory testing. You will report to Product Development Assistant Manager. You will base in Tianjin.
Key Responsibilities
61 Develop technical solutions independently for servicing customer while enhancing PPG as a leading brand the market.
61 Capture and understand the market trends and customer needs, develop customer support portfolio, with clearly defined targets and timeline.
61 Responsible for the experimental design (DOE), reliable data’s generation and analysis, reports, and action plans. Coordinate related activities including formulation, processing, application, and product certifications with local schemes.
61 Perform generally standardized, routine chemical and physical test of finished goods and compare the results with established standards and customer requirements. Develop the novel and efficient testing technique and use the available resource to solve complex problem.
61 Work with manufacturing and procurement organizations, to coordinate new raw materials (RM) implementation, alternate supplier qualifications, and RM quality to avoid production failures. Develop technical solutions to improve SSR and product cost.
61 Participate in the technical conferences as team member, provide the updates on projects progress frequently. Both written reports and live presentation are required to be in English.
61 Work together with other function champions to ensure the project healthy. Work globally as one PPG group.
61 Ensure adherence to all applicable environmental, health and safety regulations and standards to help eliminate health hazards to prevent work stoppage and time loss due to accidents. Maintain equipment and laboratory facilities consistent with safety and quality principle.
Qualifications
61 Bachelor’s or master’s degree in polymer chemistry or equivalent. Knowledgeable of chemistry/coatings technology and scientific test methods. More than 5 years’ experience in Architectural Coating R&D.
61 Good capability in using English, both written and oral.
61 Be able to develop Architecture wall paint according to customer need and dynamic market need. Meanwhile be insightful for the latest technology.
61 Experience in pigment disperse and grinding.
61 Familiarity with Technology Stage-Gate process or knowledge on statistical tools/ Six sigma.
