1. Be familiar with principles of laboratory health and safety regulations, ensures the operation of a safe environment. Maintain general tidiness: Check assigned area every day, dispose regular and hazardous wastes as required.

2. Support designated academic staffs within Department with their research, including but not limited to the following: Actively participate in research projects, execute cellular, molecular experiments etc ; mouse/animal work may be required; Coordinate with academic staffs to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students; Assist academic staffs with consumable procurement, reimbursement.

3. Monitor good use of equipment: If any misuse of equipment is found, technician should stop the behavior immediately. If it happens again, technician should report to the lab manager. Check assigned equipment on a daily basis, ensure all are in good condition. Carry out routine maintenance, calibration and minor repairs. Report equipment failure to lab manager and monitor reparation. Provide equipment training for new users, especially assigned major equipment, and monitor the status on LIMS.

4. Assisst lab manger with requisitions and receives, stores, and inventories chemicals, laboratory supplies, and equipment to insure adequate stock for laboratory experiments.

5. Undertake other duties commensurate with the grade as required by Lab Manager.

Qualification:

1. Education: Completion of BSc degree in biological science oriented areas. (Legible copies of transcripts verifying coursework and degree must be included. Official transcripts will be required upon employment.)

2. English: high level skills in reading, speaking and, ideally, writing.

3. Experience: Directly related experience dealing with instrumentation found in life science laboratories is required. E.g. molecular biology, protein purification and/or imaging instrumentation. Extensive biology bench work experiences for example cellular, molecular experiments are required. Experience in a university, public health, medical facility, clinical or research laboratory performing laboratory tests is desirable.
