Job Summary:
61 A Business Unit Controller directs the overall accounting functions for a single business unit. Collects and compiles financial data at the business unit level and oversees the preparation of forecasts, tax filings, financial, budget, auditing and other reports. Being a BU Controller ensures that the business unit complies with the accounting regulations and standards and adheres to company policies and procedures.
Duties & Responsibilities:
61 Preparing the BU’s financial reports, which includes balance sheets and income statements.
61 Implement a process to record transactions by department and compare costs incurred to budget and performance analysis of profit centers. Provide both the numerical and the economic reasons for change.
61 Review and record journal entries required to reflect the monthly activity.
61 Preparation of workpapers supporting the monthly close process and month end balances.
61 Review monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained.
61 Collaborate with Networking Segment Controller as well as the Telecommunications Controller directly to identify the financial analysis needed monthly for the BU. This includes at a minimum the analysis of margin, a full understanding of not just the numerical change in inventory, but more the economic reasons why inventory should we written up or down in any given period.
61 Coordinating with external financial, compliance and tax auditors and monitoring internal controls.
61 Assisting or fully creating the budget, including coordination with other sites and incorporating historical data.
61 Determine profitable opportunities for business unit and implementation processes and systems to achieve higher profits. Developing financial strategy, including risk minimization plans and opportunity forecasting.
61 Manage Finance team, implement processes to improve quality of operations, manage cash flows and generate finance reports on time
61 Present financial reporting, performance results and policies to BU leaders of the unit in order to guide business decisions.
61 Coordinate with Shared Services Center to ensure that business transactions are properly recorded.
61 Coordinate with external auditors to plan and execute annual audit for business units.
61 Develop and document internal controls and maintain accounting systems.
61 Generate financial statements in accordance with GAAP to meet the requirements of bankers or investors or for Corporate controller or internal finance team as needed.
61 Coordinate with BU GM to improve financial growth of a business unit.
61 Any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.
