Oracle DBA

As part of the team – you will be responsible for supporting critical applications/databases and ensuring the stability of our environment by performing proactive maintenance activities, engage in automation activities, performing root cause analysis and remediation. The role requires working knowledge of production support processes such as Incident/Change/Problem management, triaging incident and vendor escalations. This is an individual contributor role responsible for identifying and resolving issues of advanced complexity. This position is at an intermediate professional level and requires strong execution and analytical abilities. This role works independently and receives minimal guidance.

Responsibilities

61 Provide on-site and on-call Level 2 database operations support for all in-country live applications and services according to defined Operations Level Agreement (OLA).

61 Manage, support and maintain database technology and infrastructure, adhering to the architectural guidelines and policies.

61 Write/maintain OS level scripts for DB automation and application maintenance.

61 Physical implementation of databases, storage structures, high-availability solutions, replication, and disaster recovery solutions.

61 Proactive and reactive performance analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting and resolution of escalated Level 2 and Level3 issues.

61 Collaborate with application support teams to optimize performance of database.

61 Prioritize investigation of high impact incidents to identify root causes and mitigation measures.

61 Secure database software in production, development and QA environments by installing all mandated security patches within stipulated dates.

61 Ensure successful database backup and restoration.

61 Perform essential routine maintenance of database to assure their integrity and stability.

61 Regular database capacity planning related to database growth and system utilization, trend analysis, predictive future database resource requirements, and the structured organized reporting of the same.

61 Participate in the evaluation, selection and implementation of DBA tools to improve the effectiveness of tasks such as performance monitoring and tuning, recovery, and database change management processing.

61 Keep database operations documentation up-to-date.

Qualifications

61 Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited university. ( BS. with 5+ years’ work experience and MS. with 3+ years’ work experience )

61 Experience working in large, complex, enterprise datacenter environments.

61 5 or more years of hands-on experience in at least 2 of the following database:

o MySQL

o MS SQL Server

o IBM DB2

o Oracle

o NoSQL (MongoDB, Aerospike, Cassandra, Hbase)

o Big Data(Hadoop)

61 Good technical knowledge of High Availability databases.

61 Should have strong UNIX platform skills and understanding of network, storage, tiered application environments and security.

61 Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks, such as Ansible and Terraform

61 Coding and scripting with common languages, such as Python, Linux Shell

61 Hands-on experience with associated database administration and troubleshooting tools. Certifications are highly preferred.

61 Certified in ITIL Foundation V3/V4 and familiar with ITIL framework for incident, problem, change and request management is highly preferred.

61 Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.

61 Ability to lead cross-functional teams on key infrastructure projects.

61 Ability to learn new technologies and paradigms.

61 Strong hands-on technical and engineering expertise allied with business acumen.

61 Strong planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.

61 Proficient in oral and written English, with strong inter-personal skills.
