YOUR ROLE
As a Cooperation VC Associate, you will implement CMA CGM's innovation strategy in China, co,ordinating with global teams in Europe, Singapore, North America, and venture fund partners. They will also serve as a primary contact for local VC funds and digital expertise centers.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO
In this role, you will be expected to perform professionally by dedicating to below responsibilities:
1. Assist the search for Innovation for CMA CGM Group in China, as he or she represent CMA CGM and our portfolio companies at client and industry events
2. Partner with senior CMA CGM stakeholders to define strategic investment priority areas supporting CMA CGM global, regional and functional business units, He or she will be influencing strategy/M&A and commercial insights as a key sparring partner
3. Identify potential partnership with innovation hubs, VC funds, incubators and startups in China and more largely in APAC
4. Continually expand CMA CGM’s ecosystem and network (VCs, CVCs, accelerators, incubators, CxOs, innovation hubs, Universities, Subject Matter Experts, etc)
5. Work with CMA CGM partnered VC firms on range of business activities to support their mission and objectives with an eye on long term CMA CGM interests
6. Take part in the preparation of executive ready investment materials for the Investment Committee that outline the strategic benefits of investment, investment terms, and other relevant information for potential investments, including financial model and returns
7. Monitor operational and financial performance of portfolio companies; facilitate quarterly performance analysis for individual companies and full investment portfolio
8. Bridge opportunities brought by partner to local stakeholders and decision makers
9. Evaluate relevance of new opportunities, financially and functionally
Monthly reporting on activities of the fund
10. Participate in Partners activities and provide critical insights about CMA CGM missions and targets
11. Support a range of due diligence activities, including drafting investment memos, performing financial analyses, and generating competitive landscapes
12. Identify and source strong investment opportunities for CMA CGM in our key focus sectors, and regularly review a high pipeline volume to triage relevant opportunities.
13. Assist Venture Team leadership in fundraising activities, including forecasting and financial modeling
14. Complete research and deep dives into our industries to identify trends and present investment opportunities to the Local, Regional and Head Office Management
15. Use available data and information to make and substantiate recommendations across a range of functional areas
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
You will be a great fit if you have:
1. 3 years’ experience in Previous experience in investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, venture capital, or related fields
2. Must hold bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification with emphasis in finance/ business administration, accounting, statistics, or economics
3. Experience in cross-functional teams and working with senior executives
4. Experience building relationships with entrepreneurs, senior executives, and industry experts
5. Desired to have strong spreadsheet and presentation (Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) skills
6. Desired to have shipping or logistics knowledge
7. Desired to have network in the startups or venture world
8. Desired to have shipping or logistics background
