As we expand globally, we're seeking a Director of Business Development focused on Greater China a strategic commercial leader who thrives at the intersection of science, innovation, and opportunity. This role is tailored for a builder: someone who can identify white spaces, unlock new markets, and scale existing commercial opportunities with both urgency and precision.
The Role
This is a high-impact, individual contributor role with the potential to grow into regional leadership. You'll work across pharmaceutical, biotech, CDMO, and testing lab segments to expand CSP's presence in China and adjacent Asian markets.
The role responsible for identifying, engaging, and closing new business with pharmaceutical developers, CDMOs, and biotech innovators. You'll be a strategic hunter, technical translator, and trusted partner to clients navigating the complex world of drug stability, packaging materials, and active packaging technologies.
This is an individual contributor role with significant autonomy, ideal for a self-starter ready to lead high-impact commercial activities today and potentially build and lead a global business development team tomorrow.
Key Responsibilities
61 Drive new business growth with pharmaceutical and biotech companies, CDMOs, and drug developers across the Americas
61 Position Aptar CSP's active packaging and material science solutions as the standard for moisture and oxygen scavenging, nitrosamine mitigation, and drug stability
61 Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, regulatory, and operations to translate complex technical capabilities into compelling commercial value
61 Lead all aspects of unlocking market opportunities, identifying commercial fit, and supporting sales in the project phase to drive it the opportunity to launch.
61 Serve as a strategic thought partner to clients, understanding their formulation, packaging, and regulatory challenges – and identifying how Aptar CSP can enable success
61 Actively contribute to strategic marketing, product positioning, and global expansion planning
61 Represent the company at key trade shows, industry events, and technical conferences
61 Lay the foundation for a scalable global BD/sales team as growth continues
What Makes You a Fit
61 Entrepreneurial mindset; thrives in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
61 Fluent in Mandarin and English; strong cross-cultural communication skills
61 Deep knowledge of the Greater China pharmaceutical landscape and its evolving regulatory dynamics
61 Technical background in life sciences (e.g., B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or related field)
61 5+ years of experience in business development or technical sales within life sciences, pharma, or healthcare packaging (CDMO, drug delivery, excipients, or active packaging preferred)
61 Proven ability to develop long-term commercial strategies and close new business in complex, regulated
61 Experience selling complex technologies, especially in drug delivery, packaging materials, or active packaging solutions
61 Strong understanding of regulatory considerations, drug development timelines, and formulation stability challenges
61 Track record of winning new business and developing long-term strategic accounts
61 Exceptional communicator and storyteller – able to translate technical depth into business value
61 Self-driven, entrepreneurial, and comfortable in a fast-moving, high-growth environment
