中国农业大学经济管理学院源于1927年国立北平大学农学院成立的农业经济系。1949年原北京大学农学院、清华大学农学院和华北大学农学院合并成立北京农业大学，同时下设农业经济系。1952年高等院校院系调整时，从全国抽调的一批著名农业经济学家壮大了北京农业大学农业经济系。1985年扩建为农业经济管理学院，1993年扩建为经济管理学院。2002年6月经济管理学院和管理工程学院合并组建成现在的经济管理学院。原管理工程学院创立于1995年，由中国农业大学原乡镇企业与社会发展学院、管理工程教研室、系统工程教研室及农业经济教研室合并而成。
经济管理学院现拥有农林经济管理、管理科学与工程和应用经济学三个一级学科博士学位授予权，工商管理一级硕士学位授予权，农业经济管理和管理科学与工程两个博士后流动站。其中农林经济管理一级学科下的农业经济管理二级学科是***重点建设学科，管理科学与工程是北京市重点建设学科。经济管理学院是我国首批招收硕士生和博士生的单位，是国家教委首批颁布的具有博士、硕士和学士授予权的学科点，可授予经济学和管理学两种学位。学院还提供MBA、金融、保险、国际商务与会计等硕士专业学位的教育。经济管理学院重点培养高水平的科学研究人才，MBA教育重点培养期货、食品与农业企业、民营企业、中小企业、农产品国际贸易、项目管理等领域的职业经理人才。
学院现有教职工142人，其中教授40人，副教授54人。学院设有七个系：农业经济系、国际贸易系、工商管理系、财务与会计系、财政金融系、信息管理与电子商务系和应用经济系；两个教育中心： 中国农业大学MBA教育中心、实验教学中心；14个研究机构：中国农业大学中国农村政策研究中心、中国农业大学期货与金融衍生品研究中心、农业经济研究所、农产品市场研究中心、农村金融与投资研究中心、国际农产品贸易研究中心、战略与决策研究中心、农产品流通与营销研究中心、中国农业模型与预测中心、物流规划与发展战略研究所、项目管理研究中心、农业保险与风险管理研究所、农户经济研究中心、国际应用经济研究中心；学院拥有现代化的教学设备、先进的网络计算机室和藏书6万多册的资料室。
