Vanke Meisha Academy (VMA), founded in 2015, is an international school hosted by Vanke Education Development Fund and operated by Shenzhen Middle School. It is approved by the Shenzhen Education Bureau and ranked No. 3 in Shenzhen in the "Hurun Education Top International Schools in China 2017" list. In May 2018, VMA received full accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Backed by mountains and facing the sea, the academy's teaching building was designed by renowned American architect Steven Holl and is LEED Platinum certified, making it the first urban complex in China to achieve this recognition. The students at VMA aspire to continue their education overseas after high school.
VMA integrates the College Board Advanced Placement (AP) program and the Chinese national curriculum with Cambridge International Education, aiming towards the International Baccalaureate framework. With a student-to-teacher ratio of 1:7 and a faculty that averages 9 years of teaching experience, more than 60% hold master's degrees or higher, and 42 foreign teachers from eight countries make up 43% of the faculty.
VMA emphasizes academic and research abilities, promoting Project-Based Learning with a "student-centered" approach and small classes of 20-25 students. Through social practices, community services, sports competitions, traditional cultural activities, and artistic performances, students develop core competencies like imagination, creativity, leadership, and communication skills, achieving all-around development.
