乐山市妇幼保健院创建于1976年，是乐山市政府设立的公益性医疗卫生机构。该院为国家三级甲等妇幼保健机构，是四川省新生儿遗传代谢疾病筛查乐山分中心，承担乐山、眉山、雅安三地的新筛任务；同时是四川省儿童早期综合发展示范基地、四川省新生儿保健特色专科建设单位、乐山市产前诊断中心、乐山市出生缺陷管理中心、乐山市母婴安全指导中心、乐山市新生儿听力筛查机构、乐山市危重新生儿救治中心、乐山市“两癌”筛查管理中心等。2022年通过评审，被纳入四川省开展人类辅助生殖技术机构规划，筹建人类辅助生殖技术服务。
2019—2020年，该院先后被评为国家级“节约型公共机构示范单位”和“公共机构能效领跑者”。2020年3月，保健院整体搬迁至青江新区三苏路1333号，占地面积31.6亩，建筑面积61230平方米，编制床位240张。医院全体职工秉持“仁心仁术、呵护生命”的宗旨，致力于保障全市妇女、儿童的健康。
