Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) was founded in Kuwait in 1972 under the name of T.M.P Agents, during a period when intellectual property (IP) protection was still in its early stages of development in the Arab region. Since its inception, AGIP has consistently been at the forefront of efforts to enhance the IP infrastructure in the Arab world.

To this end, AGIP has collaborated closely with Arab governments and multilateral organizations to implement an efficient IP system that has brought significant changes to the region.

With the new system, major multinational corporations have gained confidence to expand into the region and plan substantial investments, as they are now assured that their investments are adequately protected. Additionally, creative Arab individuals, such as architects, artists, designers, scientists, musicians, and writers, are encouraged to produce more works, as their efforts are properly rewarded and their creations are effectively protected.

AGIP has also supported and assisted governmental committees and officials responsible for revising and drafting new laws and regulations for the enforcement of intellectual property rights (IPRs) in several Arab countries, including Bahrain, Lebanon, Yemen, Oman, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates.

This commitment to IP protection has been strengthened through AGIP's ongoing involvement with international organizations, such as the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the World Trade Organization (WTO); with NGOs like the International Trademark Association (INTA), the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), and the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI), as well as through funding support for Arab NGOs such as the Arab Society for Intellectual Property (ASIP) and the Licensing Executives Society-Arab Countries (LES-AC).

AGIP has organized and sponsored, in coordination with WIPO, ASIP, and WTO, relevant training programs for members of the judiciary and district attorneys in various Arab countries. AGIP is also proud to have published numerous groundbreaking reference works on IP in the Arab world, including the compilation of an English translation of all Arab intellectual property laws and the publication of a major intellectual property dictionary.
