On 22nd of October 2012, Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd (DFG) and GETRAG International GmbH (GETRAG) entered into the Joint Venture Contract, i.e. the Joint Development Agreement of Low Torque Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), and decided to jointly establish an all in one joint venture company with the ability to research and develop, manufacture, and sell vehicle transmissions in Wuhan. Dongfeng Getrag Transmission Co. Ltd (Dongfeng Getrag) was officially registered and established in Wuhan on 13th March 2013. Phase 1 investment is 120 million Euros in total, planning to achieve annual transmission production capacity of 250,000 units and establish a research and development centre, the main product is Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). Mass production is scheduled to be launched in Q1 2016. In the future, Dongfeng Getrag is expected to achieve annual transmission production capacity of 1 million units and establish independent transmission research and development centre. Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) represents the most advance technology nowadays, complies with the future trend of transmission development as well as national regulations on passenger cars in terms of environment protection, energy saving, and low carbon emission. The first joint developed product of low torque 6DCT150 Dual Clutch Transmission is a brand new product worldwide. The intellectual property right belongs to both parties and the product is exclusive in China market.
