2016年，四川省委、省政府发布《关于深化供销合作社综合改革的意见》（川委发〔2016〕22号文），明确指出：“支持组建省农产品经营集团，打造农产品规模化流通服务平台，推动四川优势农产品生产、加工、销售一体化发展。”依据此意见，结合省供销社实际情况，2017年底，省供销社以云龙大厦公司为基础成立了四川省农产品经营集团有限公司（简称“农经集团”）。农经集团注册资金9500万元，其中四川省供销企业（集团）公司出资9100万元，持股95.78947%，四川省供销合作社联合社出资400万元，持股4.21053%。集团总部设在成都市青羊区锣锅巷122号的云龙大厦。

自成立以来，农经集团一直坚持为农服务的理念，致力于“打造一个平台（农产品规模化流通服务平台）、树立一个品牌（‘川字号’优质农产品品牌）”。集团围绕生产、加工、销售三大核心，主要开展大宗农副产品贸易、四川“名、特、优、新、稀”农产品线上线下销售、农产品冷链物流、电子商务及食材配送等业务，形成了农产品一、二、三产业融合发展的新模式，成长为以农产品商贸为主的多元化集团。2018年，农经集团获中共四川省委农村工作领导小组认定为“农业产业化省级重点龙头企业”。
