本集团专注于科技创新和产业化应用，通过原始创新、资源集成创新与技术引进并再创新，取得了重大科技创新成果，多项技术达到国际、国内领先水平，其中本集团的等离子体点火技术水平居世界第一位。本集团的烟气湿法脱硫、海水脱硫、锅炉燃烧降氮及烟气脱硝技术始终保持国内领先地位。龙源环保、龙源技术、联合动力和国电智深已成为享誉中国的知名品牌。截至2016年6月30日，本集团拥有5个国家级科研平台、2个省级重点实验室、12个省级企业技术（工程技术）研究中心及2个博士后科研工作站。本集团承担持续科研开发项目共计73项，其中承担国家科技部「863」计划项目2项；承担国家科技支撑计划项目1项、参与子课题2项；承担国家能源局项目2项、承担或参与子课题4项；承担国家海洋局项目1项；参与环保部子课题1项；承担、参与省级及其他项目10余项。2016年上半年，本集团新获知识产权103项，包括发明专利43项。
