In October 2012, Danaher Corporation and Cooper Industries announced the sale of Apex Tool Group to Bain Capital. The transaction closed on February 1, 2013, when Bain Capital completed the acquisition.

With global revenue of $1.6 billion and approximately 8,800 employees, Apex Tool Group operates in over 30 countries worldwide. Its headquarters is located in Sparks, Maryland, USA (north of Baltimore).
