Amsted Industries is a diversified manufacturer of industrial components primarily serving the railroad, vehicular, and construction and building markets. Its predecessor firm, American Steel Foundries, was established over 100 years ago in Chicago, United States, through the consolidation of 8 U.S. steel companies, the oldest of which began operations as early as 1882. In 1962, American Steel Foundries renamed itself to Amsted Industries. Today, Amsted Industries operates in 47 facilities across 11 countries in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. In China, Amsted Industries is represented by Amsted China and five separate businesses—Amsted Rail, Baltimore Aircoil (BAC), Burgess-Norton, ConMet, and Diamond Chain—in nine different Chinese cities. The worldwide headquarters of Amsted Industries is in Chicago, United States, while the corporate office for Amsted China is located in Shanghai, China.
