State Bank of India, India’s largest bank founded over two centuries ago and the flagship of Indian banking, is the only Indian bank in the elite group of Fortune 500 companies. It is the largest commercial bank in India in terms of assets, deposits, profits, number of branches, and employees. The bank has 189 overseas offices across 35 countries.

State Bank of India, Shanghai Branch: Operations began in Shanghai in 1997 as a Representative Office. On April 20, 2006, it was upgraded to a full branch, making SBI the first Indian bank to commence commercial operations in China. The branch commenced RMB operations in March 2010.

SBI Shanghai serves as a crucial bridge for financial intermediation between India and China, promoting bilateral trade and Indian investments in China. Services include loans and advances such as project loans, syndicated loans, working capital loans, term loans, trade finance, buyers' credit, as well as issuing/advising/confirming letters of credit and bank guarantees. Currently, the branch engages with over 500 Chinese companies.
