CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals Co., Ltd.(中海壳牌)

CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals Company (CSPC) Limited was established as a Chinese Foreign Equity Joint Venture Company on December 28, 2000. It has built and currently operates a USD4.1 billion world-scale petrochemicals complex in Daya Bay, Huizhou, Guangdong. This project represents one of the largest foreign direct investments in China to date. In 2016, the partners agreed to expand CSPC, nearly doubling its production capacity by adding a 1.2 million ton/year ethylene unit, resulting in an additional 4.0 million tons/year of petrochemical products (C2).

The partners include Shell Nanhai B.V., a member of Royal Dutch Shell, holding a 50% stake, and CNOOC Petrochemicals Investment Company Limited (CPIL), also with a 50% stake. CPIL is owned by China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) (90%) and Guangdong Guangye Investment Group Company Limited (10%).

The CSPC petrochemicals complex incorporates the world's most advanced technologies and uses modern management systems and international standards in its design, construction, and operation. By adopting 13 patents through international bidding, it ensures cutting-edge technological operations. Most of its process units are world-scale. Furthermore, CSPC integrates principles of sustainable development throughout the design, construction, and operation of the complex, showcasing its strong commitment to the community and the environment.
